Grilled Pineapple and Coconut RiceSeptember is a whirlwind for everyone.  Summer is ending, schedules are getting hectic and school is back in!  While you’re shuffling around trying to balance your day out it can be easy to forget to grab a snack.  Here are some of our favourite easy snacks that you can have ready for that emergency and some that take only minutes to put together in a pinch!

Pineapple Pepper Guacamole: This delicious dip takes advantage of your Sunday night grill.  If you’ve fired it up for dinner, add the pineapple.  After dinner it will only take you 15 minutes to throw this guacamole together which you can put into portioned containers for the week.  Before you run out the door grab a container and a handful of tortilla chips or carrots for a healthy snack.   Or pack into kid’s lunches, its nut free and school friendly!

Applesauce: Having a couple mason jars of this easy fresh applesauce will mean that you can curb that sweet tooth snack attack whenever it hits!

Quick Cucumber Pickles:  These quick pickles are half light salad half bright snack! Keep a batch in the fridge as a snack, a side dish, or even as a light appetizer for when you come home hungry.

Chunky Monkey from Half Your Plate Ambassador Chef Michael Smith: This snack is so easy to make and adds some healthy flavour when you get a craving.  Kid and adult approved!

Don’t forget that most fruit and veggie are already in a snack packages that require little to no prep! You should some of the following handy:

  • Baby carrots
  • Sugar snap peas
  • Apples
  • Bananas
  • Mandarin oranges
  • Cherry tomatoes
